Josh MacPhee
( 0 )Josh MacPhee's explosive personality seems almost impossible to categorize. Heavily inspired by Elizabeth Catlett, Alfredo Rostgaard, David King, Sister Corita Kent, Antonio Frasconi and Ben Shaun, and immersed in the punk, rock and DIY scene since his teens, MacPhee began publishing independent zines with a lot of political content, housing, health and street art. Pound the Pavement is an ongoing publication that was originally launched in 2000 to publish a series of zines that collected photographs of street stencils (which would eventually evolve into the book Stencil Pirates, published in 2004). Although there is no single theme that links the publications together, collectively they are a place for MacPhee to work out his twin obsessions of collecting and organizing.
